Turtle: Gooooood evening, Fellow Fandomites! If you're listening to this WTFH broadcast in real time right now, allow me a second to ask you why. Do you know what tomorrow is?
Valentine: August Twenty-Nineth?
Turtle: Yes. But what else?
Valentine: Saturday?
Turtle: Newbie Saturday, to be precise! So you should all be in bed, getting lots of rest, because it's a big day tomorrow. People to meet...
Valentine: ...brains to break...
Turtle: And a light news load beforehand! Doing the radio on the lull before the Newbie Storm makes up for doing radios from busy days with dances and fairs and when things attack. And don't even talk to me about the last homecoming, Oh-Em-Gee.
Valentine: However, this broadcast might end up being that long if Turtle wants to keep babbling and forget about getting to the notes.
Turtle:...oh, quiet, you. Here we go, then, Friday's Pre-Newbie Picnic Notes!
SCHOOL
Valentine: We're on break, so there's no classes. Well, that makes that section pretty easy.
Turtle: If I were less dignified, I'd make a 'your mom' joke there.
Valentine: Well, you just keep on staying classy, then, Wexler.
DORMS
Valentine: Eve is all packed up and flops on her bed one last time before taking off into the wild blue yonder of whatever dimension she may find herself in after this one. Peyton, as well, has her bold future to look forward to, though Angela manages to catch her time, while Jennifer discerns that leaving is in the books for Peyton. Adam? Also packed. Annja? Not pleased.
Turtle: Joan is relaxing with Liir-turned-kitty, who likes spaghetti, and then Penelope comes around to beat the bush for a moment before telling her all about hitting a home run with Hurley, if you know what I mean. I'm not talking about baseball, here.
Valentine: Aww, Hurley. Congratulations. Now every knows about it. Jess also stopped by to see Joan before he left. Peter is also leaving, which is funny because they both look the same. He and Claire talk about the necessity for visiting; Sam discusses the same thing, but Sam doesn't need clothes for his visits.
Turtle: Rose visits Cute Jack, who really is as cute as Valentine says he is, to let him know that she's baaaack, and Claudia departs to leave Harper the crown of god-awful fashion. Priestly brings her a t-shirt and talks junk food, as it should be. Griff points out that, hey, no invasions in Connecticut, but Claudia still wants to bring a gremlin with her, and Sookie was hoping Claudia would just stay anyway. Zayne got lightsaber manbags for all of his Jedi friends. I...don't think I even want to know what that statement is supposed to mean.
Valentine: Triela's all beaten up after some mission and tells Karla that she should see the other guy! And then she confuses Yuffie for Amber for a moment or two. Wendy joins the list of departees, and tells Ben that he must visit, amid many a pun. Katchoo, meanwhile, gets the scoop on where Wendy's going, and Robin makes sure to say goodbye.
Turtle: Kate makes me sad because I missed candy in the third floor common room, where she was sitting and eating some with a manga, and then introduced Leto to those little Japanese import moneymakers. Seriously. Manga's hot, and super pricy. But Leto doesn't read fiction, he reads boring stuff like Valentine reads.
Valentine: By 'boring,' Turtle means 'intelligent big people books.'
Turtle: Ppfft. Anyway, Jennifer and Kate have a timely meeting, right before the swarm of new kids to meet and try to remember that you met later on. Jennifer also meets Leto and talked with him about exploring. Common rooms and other floors. I hope.
Valentine: Jean is up on the roof sighing. I hear that's actually a requisite for being up there. Bobby joins her and is glad to hear that she's staying.
Turtle: Priestly was up there, too, definitely doing the emo thing a lot better than Jean was. So good that Elle thinks he might leap. Now talk about jumping to conclusions.
Valentine: Bah-dah-ching.
Turtle: Layla, however, encourages jumping, because she's mean and wants Priestly's parking space.
Valentine: On an island without cars.
TOWN
Valentine: Leto and Irulan played catch up at the Perk, going over Leto's visit to Kate's and Irulan's hat shop and Cabot and Associates business. Karla also caught up with Leto, having her own trip to tell him about.
Turtle: Miss Davis got the firefighters next door to help her load some animal feed at the Gig, while Harper jumped me on the gun to having school supplies on sale at Things Reborn. But at Turtle & Canary, you know it's all new and in good shape! It was Agnes' last day at the Magic Box, woe!, but she still worked hard in keeping things straight and even returned all the things she'd bought and marked them on the inventory sheets. She's like a dream employee, seriously. Karla, too, noticed Agnes' productivity, before being sad because she's taking off.
Valentine: Oh, and, Turtle, I found something for you today at Japhrodite's Shop. Here.
*thunk*
Turtle: Holy canolli, what is that?
Valentine: I could show you how to use it, if you want.
Turtle: No way, Jose. I think I can figure it out by myself, thanks. But, jeez, Valentine, you could give this stuff to me off the air, you know, when we met before a broadcast.
Valentine: But then what would I use as a segue to talk about the rest of the day at the shop? Like Leto coming in--
Turtle: Thank goodness for your confidentiality clause, Val; I don't think any of us need to know about what Leto would be doing there.
Valentine: He was there to talk about fish, Turtle.
Turtle: Fish?....like, real fish? Not, like, this-is-a-really-gross-metaphor fish?
Valentine: Real fish.
Turtle: ...huh.
Valentine: Turtle was hard at work as usual at Cabot and Associates--
Turtle: Kind of.
Valentine: Kind of. At the art gallery, Sophie's studying some newspaper articles before Castiel shows up to see what needs helping with, but when he finds out it's a job, he declines, since he's already got the church and all these godless heathens on his hands.
Turtle: Dinah's out on the beach, meditating, when Gabrielle came along and they talked about how Dinah's meditation helps with her powers, which could be useful in helping Gabrielle remember something. And then a bunch of people were at the preserve, too. Like, Blysse and Merlin and Francine and Arthur shaped people.
Valentine: Murdock puts off leaving with a game of fetch with his dog in the park; Tully comes by on his horse and the two get to meet the other's pet just in time to be seperated. And, not far away, at the causeway, Harry and his skull depart for where ever the road may take them.
Turtle: It took me to Canada once.
Valentine: That's nice, Turtle.
Turtle: Miss Murray seemed a little twitchy at the clinic, so good thing no one needed open heart surgery, while Hurley ate a lot of fish crackers at Covent Garden Flowers, which feels a little icky after all that about fish at Japhrodite's Shop.
Valentine: Miss Connel was checking headlines over at the hotel, while Haley enjoyed being lazy at Guilty as Charged. Dimitri checked out the gym, where he assures Max that there's nothing wrong with his eyes, he's a new guy, and Rose comes down distinctly to check up on him and bug him and not work out, especially since she's banned until Monday. Tim, however, did manage to get some work in.
Turtle: Detective Constable Day's bedroom looked like a disaster area as she got ready for her date...
Valentine: Which is probably nothing compared to what it'll look like once her date gets there.
Turtle: Ugh. Geez, Val. TMI. Anyway, over at Caritas, Miss Ravenwood was late for her shift, but Mr. Tino was just going to have to deal with it. She's got a kid, darn it all. But, hey, at least according to Mr. Katarn, Tino still makes a good drink. Miss Price, however, is less impressed.
Valentine: And there you have it, all the news of the day. Good night...
Turtle: And don't break the newbies!
Valentine: Too quickly, anyway.
