Fandom Radio :: Friday, July 11th.
Good evening, fellow Fandomites! It's Turtle Wexler here on WTFH Radio, here to bring you all of today's notable...and sometimes not so notable news! There's a lot of notes thanks to that party we had, so I'm going to get straight to things, because Radio?
SCHOOL
Mister Cannon can't be bothered to shave for his office hours today, and Mister Suresh gets some work done during his. Mister Dex's office hours were marked by a visit from Rodney; he tries to get out of Mister Dex's class, but he's all, "No way, Jose." Or, well, no way, Rodney, anyway, and has him break down the door. Right. That makes perfect sense. Mister Beau--that French guy-- had office hours today, as well, and so did the Doctor, who talked to himself about decorating.
And then someone rick-rolled the office; you know who I think it is by now, I'm sure.
Karal and his cat opened the library today; Liir brought him lunch and caught up with how Karal's been. Gavin also drops in to talk with Karal about classes.
During Living on your own, they not only had introductions, but they also learned how to make soap, which is helpful, sure, despite Ichigo's doubt that it wasn't, but I suppose if my sales in soap go down, I'll just have to up my shipments of lye. Ino passed notes to both Michael and Anemone; Anemone also got notes from Bad Alice. Amber and Katina exchanged looks and a snarky comment or two, and Evil Meg was there as TA.
And then it was time for Summer Fitness with Mister Bond, which, let me tell you, sounds like so much fun. Can you pick up on the sarcasm here? Just making sure, because it's thick enough to cut with a knife. Everyone listened as they stretched to Mister Bond and the typical introductions; Ronan also wanted to know if Johnny was okay, but, clearly, he's not, because he's in a fitness class, and Toby glared a bit at Andros, probably also We're In F-ing Fitness Class related, too. One that makes them do fitness tests, rife with push-ups, crunches, chin-ups, jogging, and more stretching. Evil, I say.
Speaking of Evil, we then had Mad Scientists and How to Survive Them, where there was first gawking (there's always at least one teacher in each day that'll inspire that), introductions, discussions on what to take out of a burning building, and tongue-twisters, which all had to be done withp a lishp.
Roving the Galaxy also got the semester started with introductions, but they also had a first day pop quiz, UGH!, where they were given a scenario and had to talk about how they'd respond to this situation, which I guess isn't as bad as, like, a sudden pop quiz in calculus, or something.
DORMS
Johnny and Savannah have blah blah blah dirty time, not interested, oh-em-gee. Alec and Helen had some of that dirty time, too, ew, and Mac had a more singular time with reading and hot chocolate. Mac, I kind of love you right now for not making me feel icky and gross talking about other people's sex lives.
This morning, Ender checks out what used to be the best common room until I moved and watched a history documentary. And you people say my viewing choices are boring? Karal come in looking for breakfast and is surprised by the TV, which surprises me and Ender because he's been here a while. Karal, not Ender. Ender's new. Anyway, Karal explains about how his cat is all special, and not in the same sense that Chad's cat is *cough* 'special,' and about being from the future and how priests know how to make toast, apparently. Dean wonders if he should talk at Altra instead of at Karal, to, you know, keep eye contact; they chat a little about how Altra is scary but explosives class is not, and, hey, Antarctica. How is that topic not old yet? Anyway, Dean and Ender meet and talk about how documentaries are a good place for Ender to start on picking up things about the 20th century, which he kind of missed some of.
In the fourth floor common room, there was a smaller party to celebrate Hoshi's birthday. Happy birthday, Hoshi! I didn't know you had a party today, so I owe you a present! Cal and Jen both boggled at the sheer amount of food and talk about how cute pink rice cakes are, and Momoko is just happy to see saku-- sakura-- sakuramori? She introduces herself to Jen and Hoshi comfirms that, yup, it's sakuramora-whatever.
Two floors down, again, in what used to be the coolest common room, Adah relaxes and enjoys that everyone else is at the party.
TOWN
Sora was building little ships at Turtle & Canary and, for his sake, I hope he was selling them, too. Mister Kurogane seems to be hiring at Cafe Fina and Chad seems to be doing the same at Groovy Tunes, where Teddy brought him sandwiches, as any good significant other would do. Rikku was almost grumpy at the Wellspring Arms and Meditation Center, but, since it's Rikku we're talking about here, that didn't last long. Momoko stopped in the catch up with her big sister Rikku. Mister Stinson opened and wandered around the Atlas Gym today; he's glad to see Mister Eriksen there, because he thinks Mister Eriksen is a big softie. Mary just wants to know what the heck Mister Stinson is doing there. Working, hopefully. Until he gets a phone call, anyway, and then went and made another call. Talk talk talk talk talk. Mister Gabriel was eating doughnuts at the church, because that's all he does, and River refolded the animal zoo over at the Arms Hotel.
Jen was a little late for her shift at Pizza Planet, and Savannah flipped through a magazine at Nast Sporting Goods until Johnny distracts her from her work. *sigh* No work ethic in some of these people, I swear. Ella was reading a magazine at Luke's Diner and Eve was also reading over at the York Gallery, without anyone interrupting. Liir at Book Haven was interrupted by Amber, but not in the dirty way like earlier interruptions. It was more of the talk about stuff, hug, and make up variety, which is always yay. Jenny was reading too over at Pixie Dust, where Miss Garrett came in to, quote, 'replace a good deal of her wardrobe,' which meant she spent way too much money if she did it there, and she could have saved a bunch on quality clothing items at Turtle & Canary. But, hey, you know. Some people like throwing their money away.
Xander kept an eye...literally, an eye...on the proceedings of the community project today. Bridge, Seely, Z, and me all helped in the morning, there were doughnuts for lunch (I'm sure they were Jamie approved), and then Bridge stuck around to help in the afternoon.
Over at Caritas, there's an angry, violent, drunken penguin. Yikes. There was also Miss York and Agent Cooper on a daaa~ate. Karal is also there, asking how Mister Bindo's been, and Gavin is there to join him, and then they played some darts, too. Miss Garrett came in for brandy to help with her mood.
And, later in the evening, Blair held a pretty neat On the Ice party in town. There was a pretty impressive arrangement of food, as well as some tables to sit at, although I'm still not sure what to think of the fact that our hostess felt it necessary to give herself her own VIP table; so much for a dispersal of the caste system, yeesh. That's where she talked to Chuck about the polar bear she invited. Angela thanks her for helping out with the fashion side of things, and, sure enough, there was polar bear at the VIP table; Blair was very excited to see him. Romeo complimented Blair on her and Chuck's work. Yeah, yeah, great party. Chuck's glad to see that Romeo made it. Ella tries to get Blair's approval on her outfit, and Blair tries to get her to drink. Oh, peer pressure. John with the hair also stopped by at Blair's table, by request, because, apparently, there needed to be more hair, and then John goes to get to know Chuck a little more. Cimorene also makes her way over to introduce herself to the hostess.
Anyway, there was also dancing, too. Ella wondered if Romeo was going to hog a brazier all to himself, and, I swear, I keep reading that as brassier, and that really changes the whole picture right there. Johnny offers to keep Savannah warm if she gets too cold...gag me...Lois and Friday talk bad puns and polar bears. I thought there wasn't such a thing as a bad pun? Cal and Amber joke around and so do Cal and Ned, and little sister Kaylee doesn't think Ned looks very party-ish. I caught up with Kaylee, since she is my little sister, the lucky girl, and Ella mentions missing Dick's visit at the diner, and he tells her that he can't go and being all predictable. I disagree, but, then again, I date Jeff, so I have to take predictability whenever I can get it. Either way, he asks her out, which might have been unpredictable. Chuck compliments Susan on looking all regal, and Cimorene compliments Ella's outfit, but wonders where the rest of it is. Uh-oh. Also, Ned fails at puns, but how many puns do you really want to try to get out when you're talking to a guy named Dick? Romeo tells Dōjima that Ella was rude, which makes me think that he met a different Ella than my former roommate. Marco eyed the polar bear, which answers at least one question I had.
*deep breath*
Brooke and Chuck joke a little before talking about being in one of their classes together and he tries to suck up to her because she's TA. Suck up. Yeah. I'll just call it that. Jaina is very smart and points out to John with the hair that the island's been moving on a sort of pattern so far. Ooh! I hope that she's got a chart! Dōjima teased Cal for looking bored, and Ella meets Susan after complimenting her dress, and they talk about being from kingdom-y places. Rikku tells Romeo that they should have brought fish for the penguins and she was also very excited to see the bear and that she and Ella match. They are roommates now. I totally think they planned it. She also tells John with the hair that she could dig the snow if it were this pretty all the time.
IT'S NOT THAT BAD, PEOPLE. Yeesh. My sturdy midwestern stock is appalled. Anyway, Cal thinks Bad Alice looks nice, although he's probably just avoiding her question as to why he looks like a cranky-pants, and then Rikku bounces at Dōjima because her new dress is still unstained by spills. Always quite the achievement. Bad Alice also warned Ella about the alcoholic beverages, although a bit too late, which is why she's the Bad Alice, I suppose. Amber totally joined the I Heart the Bear fanclub, and also introduces herself to Liz.
And that is the end of my notes, finally! I'm going to settle in with a nice Squishy and call it an evening. Good night, and have a prosperous tomorrow!
