Fandom Radio, Saturday, September 21st
Ah, another Saturday, another stack of notes. And here I am, sporting a sugar hangover that'll have me terribly displeased if there's too much chittering going on in here today.
*Chitter?*
It's a long story involving mudslides and literally herding cats. You don't want to know. Just give me the notes so I can get the hell out of here, hm? Good. Thank you.
We'll start with School, where Criminal Justice got a crash-course on lawyers. Cultural Exploration went on a field trip to Georgia - the country, not the state - where they explored the city of Tbilisi and got to sample the local cuisine. I'd ask where this class was when I was a student, but I wouldn't have gotten much out of it at the time, I'm afraid. Space-exclamation-point did presentations on what they know about space where they're from. The topic of the day was... princess traps, in How to Steal a Princess. Students had to build their own, of course, without instructions. Or building materials. For Jackson, this involved texting, which had Raven wondering both why he bothered coming to class, and why he was poking at his phone instead of talking into it. Sia and Cade had their doubts about how useful this lesson would actually prove to be, but whatever the Ice King's plan was, Sia apparently thought Cade's was worse.
In the library, Billy was absolutely not getting sick. Really.
Student Council had their first meeting yesterday, which involved presidential speeches and voting before discussing plans for a Parents Weekend sock hop mixer. Sounds... like a social event, yes. Definitely like a social event.
There was also the Club Fair, where Raven had to get Zee to explain roller derby to her - it's a good club, everyone ought to join, and I'm not just saying that because I've got a faculty supervisor bias - Jessica wanted to know if Cade's sports club was going to give Cheer something to cheer for, and Raven and Jessica touched base about how Fandom's cheer squad is far more inclusive than... pretty much any other cheer team in the multiverse, I'm sure.
In the Dorms, Isabelle arranged her furniture to make room for her vanity. And then... arranged her cosmetics on that. Arranging. It happened.
And then we have notes for Town, where Stiles woke up by falling out of Derek's bed - and these are the notes I sometimes wonder if I should really be reading on the air - before he and Derek talked about coffee and college. Alec got in a shipment of ambiguous weaponry at Freedom Arms. No word what it does yet, and probably for the best if none of us ever find out. At Dite's, Sparkle was singing and dancing and putting out a display of fuzzy handcuffs. Which, I suppose, might be a singing and dancing matter for some. Mike was wearing a tiara at Caritas, serving princess-themed drinks, while Kitty informed him that he was pretty and learned that he got his tiara for having sex. Really? I had to go to prom to get mine. Mike's way sounds more fun. And to round things off before I get to notes about the party, Allie was at the Devil's Nest, playing games on her phone, surprising nobody.
Now... Party. At Kenzi and Bo's new place. Which came with more tiaras, which was a bit of a theme for last night. And lampshades. For... anybody strange enough to want to wear lampshades. While mingling. Like Kitty was while wearing a tiara and talking about Doom with Kenzi. And about 'them little green deers in the woods' with Clara, who the squirrels assure me is new in town. Hanna and Kenzi discussed their respective pet cats, and how having them around does make everything a little easier to cope with - Joni and I couldn't agree more - and Bruce Wayne was surprised to see Hanna still in town, but was happy that whatever was keeping her away from home wasn't an issue, anymore. Éponine and her cat were there to see the new place, but were a little overwhelmed by all of the festivities just for the sake of a housewarming party. Kenzi does nothing small, Éponine, the sooner you learn that, the fewer headaches you'll get.
Bo was wearing both a lampshade and a tiara, so I'm assuming she was drunk enough to handle Kenzi informing her that she's named the sofa 'Misha.' Bruce took the double-headgear as an indication that Bo was one of the new residents of the place, and made his introductions. Sparkle and Kenzi had an unsurprisingly disjointed conversation about Misha the sofa, cats, marijuana, fireworks, and Derek Hale's eyebrows. No, I don't know how any of these things tie into one another, either. Clara - who is new - introduced herself to Kenzi and told her about her plans to open a 'doggie tanning salon' here on the island. For... all of those dogs. Who need tans.
Er.
Kenzi was surprised to see Bruce far older than she remembered him, and he got to explain about how his world sped up in comparison to the island. Worlds will do that. Leave a teenager, come back pushing thirty... And people wonder why we have timeline confusion around here all the bloody time. I was there with Joni, and I spoke with Kenzi about why I'm back on the island, and my plans to put on a production of Jekyll and Hyde this fall. As soon as I get off my arse and do auditions. Next week. I'll hold auditions next week. Kenzi gave Toby one of her flying hugs, and they talked about how boring dormitory life is for him without her, before she proposed a sleepover and painting his nails in order to liven things up a touch. And then there were fireworks, both at Kenzi and Bo's place, and a few blocks over, courtesy of Doom.
So good of him to help them celebrate their housewarming with some additional pyrotechnics, hmm? Dr. Doom, possibly the most surprisingly benevolent supervillain neighbour the island's ever seen?
I'll let you decide, listeners at home. Me, I'm heading back to the Boards to dispose of anything that remotely looks like the ingredients to a mudslide that I can find. My bloody head is still killing me.
