Fandom Radio [Friday, November 16th]

Evening Fandom! It's news time! Let's get down and dirty with the details, shall we?

School... Actually did anyone go to class today?

Barney wasn't. Love smart just had a rotating loop of videos and instructions on how to do a drinking game. Then some wisecracker swapped out the videos for porn. That rascal!

If you were in Interdisciplinary Studies you automatically got an "A" whether you were there or not and then given guns to shoot at a pixie and steal tequila.

Damn. Porn and violence. This is like the best school ever, isn't it?

Chuck's debating class was all about fallacies and how you can use them for your own advantage.

Lunch was also served! And because everyone was sick, no one ate. Sorry Chef, better luck next week.

And the Library was a hotbed of activity today. Fraser stopped by for an update before those bookworms went on research detail to find the cure for this ugly disease. After returning from their trip to a special collection. They come out with something hopeful and head out to the preserves to see if they can find a cure.

Dorms...

Let's see in morning there... was...

*shuffles papers*

Rodney who was talking with himself.

And in the afternoon there was...

*crickets*

Yep. Okay.

Town! Where there's...

Actually not a lot. Gunther opened The Arms; the kitchen staff gave away free food at Luke's Diner And Das Principal went home from the Town Hall to get some baby stuff.

Yep. Pretty quiet.

The Town Hall on the other hand... Yep. You guessed it. Sick People.

In the morning, more sick people arrived including Seely, Mac, Adah who was carried in by Ed.

Anyone who wasn't sick were doing their best to keep everyone from not getting sicker. Benton and Robin talked about parents and roommates while Izzy and Meg were caught up with each other and discussed finding a cure.. Wyatt was busy trying to heal people when Isabel saw him getting all itchy but it was just an itch and that was sitch.

Meanwhile in the trenches, Isabel checked on Johnny and Xander while Leo checked on Savannah and Annette. George Michael Bluth checked on Andros, Anne Shirley, Dick, Eve and Hoshi. Tim "The Sick Man" Taylor and Molly checked on Annette. Chris and George Michael checked on Lana while Leo and Luke checked up on Anakin. Leo as well as Stanley and George Michael visited with Mary. Kerrigan got visits from Lee and Fraser while Aravis got a visit from Seely. Jaina and Mary visited River. Robin checked in on Harriet. Fraser checked on Ino and Gabriel while Aly got visits from Josh, Roy and Wade. Baby Grace was checked in on by Sam and John. Summer was visited by Chris while Peter Petrelli got a visit from Sam and Isabel. Roy was visited by Fraser and Ed. Leo checked in on Jack Burton while Cable got some UST from Wade

Wade? Stop hitting on sick people. Besides... you're married. Theresa would be very disappointed in you.

Katara was visited by Fraser and Sokka. Seely told Christian he was fine while Aravis dragged her cot closer to Seely.

But never fear people! Why? Because there was a group of intrepid bookworms who ventured forth out of the library and into the preserves where Chris, Peter Parker, Rodney, Luke, Rikku and Sam found the needed herbs! When they were found Chris orbed everyone back to the Town Hall where Karal and Willow believed the cure would work because it's in tea form. This was apparently after they found a ship and a book and then decided that people who cause disease suck.

That must be Willow's phrasing because I just don't think Karal has it in him to say "suck".

In the evening Luke brought in Chris Halliwell but HUZZAH! KARAL BRINGS IN THE CURE!. They test it out on Zoe and then it is all "CURE ALL THE SICK PEOPLE! MOVE IT PEOPLE MOVE IT! SHAKE IT LIKE IT'S HOT! YEAH BABY! YEAH! DO I MAKE YOU HORN-"

*cough*

Right! Moving on! Cure wise! Sean was in the volunteer area who was checked on by Molly and Vala. Rodney tells Charlie that there's a cure whileIsabel gives it to her. Jaina and Robin got a dose of the cure from Vala before Team Book Worm hit the cots. Chris was the man giving the cure to AJ, Summer, Anne, LanaJohnny and Savannah. Rikku gave the cure to Melody, Z, Kerrigan (With a little help from Lee), Sokka, Eve and tells Luke there's a cure. Willow gives the cure to Xander, Bridge, Turtle, Dick, Anders and Hoshi. Luke brings the cure to Tim while Sam brings the cure to Dawn. Molly brought the cure to Victor. No word on whether he swore vengeance on Reed just for the hell of it. Mary got the cure from Peter while Fraser gave it to Harriet and Ed gave it to Ino and Roy. Molly also gave the cure to Katara, Aly. Faith got a visit from Squall before getting the cure from Sam. Peter Parker cured Thursday and Friday, Jack, Billy and Cable. Roomie! You saved people without wearing underwear! That's so awesome! Rodney brought the cure to John who later got a visit from Jaina. And I guess Chris needed to be told to relax by Molly and Luke before Rikku brought him a cure and then got a visit from Wyatt who was making the rounds to everyone to make sure they all got some curage. That didn't stop Katara who brought the cure to Andrew while Luke takes it Seely.

When that's all done with Wade took Aly back to her apartment and then we're back to the...

DORMS AGAIN!

Inara comes back to the dorm with the cure for Gavin and to let him know that it is all over. A fully cured Eve also returns and quickly curls up with Adam. Chris brings Summer and Lana back. Cuddling ensues between Johnny and Savannah as well as Chad and Teddy, Seely and Aravis and Wyatt and Isabel. Annette and Robin hit the sack while Rikku is overjoyed that she can make prank phone calls again. Speaking of pranks, I finally took pity on my roomie and gave him some underwear because I'm sure the ones he has now are pretty ripe. Anders was joyfully greeted by a robotic dog before he made a few phone calls. Jack, who apparently enjoys sleeping in public spaces, crashes in the common room

Over at the school Karal returned to the library to restore the book to Special Collections and was visited by Fraser and the discussion about a memorial service for Bart.

Speaking of which...

Before I close things out tonight I have a brief little thing to add. As we all know we lost a student earlier this week by the name of Bart Allen. I wish I could say I knew Bart well and we were the best of friends but the truth was I think we only chatted maybe once or twice while I was getting a squishy at Turtle and Canary. Anyhow he seemed like a pretty swell guy and someone everyone should know. As a result the squirrels here seem to have been busy the last few days putting together a little tribute to him and they've given this for me to read.

Bartholomew "Bart" Allen the second was born in the 30th century and is the third generation of heroes. His grandfather, Barry Allen was a superhero in his world who went by the name of "Flash" who was, and I quote, "The Fastest Man Alive". This gift was passed on to Barry's son Don and then to Bart who inherited a legacy of heroism from both. Both his grandfather and father died saving the world on two separate occasions before Bart was even born.

Transported by his grandmother to our century to solve a problem with his metabolism, Bart joined our school at the beginning of the year. Bart was the first person to show signs of illness this week. On Wednesday Bart died due to the complications of the plague. He is survived by his grandmother Iris Allen and his cousins Wally West and Jenni Ognats.

Bart's grandfather was a fan of a particular poem by Rudyard Kipling which seems to be appropriate for Bart and I'm going to read it for you tonight.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a man, my son...

It's been a crazy week for everyone folks. From everyone who's been sick, to those who have tried to care for the ill and those dirty little bookworms who've spent the last few days pouring over books to find a cure for all of us. And while I'm happy to announce the cure has been found and that we're all going to be okay, I hope you'll take a moment to remember the guy who didn't make it but who I have no doubt spent his entire life filling every second with his sense of humor and every bit of life that he had.

Rikku listened to the radio and closed her eyes when it was finished. And wiped away a tear or two.

(OOC: And so did I. Thank you, for this. You rock.)

Savannah had tears sliding down her face by the end of Jaime's broadcast.

[[OOC: Dude, you rock for this... most especially about the Bart portion.]]

Xander, about to sleep in his own bed for the first time in days, caught the last half of the broadcast by pure chance. He winced at the end, his good mood deflating; he'd been out of it enough while sick that this was the first time he'd heard not everybody had gotten the cure.
