Fandom Radio, Monday, June 25th
Oof, hey. Take it easy there, guys. I'm coming, I haven't had my caf yet today.
*Chittering*
... You made me caf?
*Chittering*
See, I knew I liked you. Give me those notes, I think my brain is starting up again just smelling it.
As most of you know, yesterday was Pride Picnic day in the park. There was the requisite picnic mingling, where Breq and Sparkle talked about everything from human nature to the meaning of home. Seivarden told Rosa that Issa was home safe and sound, and then they talked about the uselessness of the island's troopers. Not gonna argue that one, no. And Anders was playing in the glitter, where he met up with both Dante and Kathy.
There was food, including whatever Dr. Lecter cooked up. Eliot got on his case about potatoes and Amaya was just happy about grilled meat.
Off to one side of the park, there was a setup for Games, including a ball pit, where Eliot congratulated Jonothon on a Pride event well planned. Kathy went up against her old nemesis, the kraken slide. And Hardison constructed a validity blanket fort, which apparently put Eliot in the mood for camping. From time to time, Kathy was sitting in the grass playing her guitar, too.
To the other side of the park, booths, promoting healthy living and collecting money for charities. Covent Garden had a booth manned by Peter, where Norman found a flower that he was especially interested in. Dites and the Clinic had a booth set up as well. Kathy and Cristina were both there to run it, and made proper introductions that didn't involve a side dose of Fandom weirdness, for once. Seivarden was there to look things over, and wound up... having a conversation... with Cristina about her job on the island and the importance of sunscreen. I'm sure it went well. Ah. Seivarden also had a talk with Kathy about safe sex and how to avoid STDs.
And the whole thing wrapped up with a rainbow fireworks show courtesy of Sabine. If ever you want somebody to blow something up for you in style, find her, definitely.
Elsewhere yesterday, it was Liam's birthday, so Verity arranged for a birthday event at Il Pollo for him. Apparently a large part of that event involved her teasing him about his age and something about a cake. Miguel showed up, armed with an Ikea gift card, which surprised Liam. Verity explained the cake away to Miguel by saying Liam had lost a bet, and then they started talking about cosplay.
I have no idea what that is, but that's the last of my notes, so I don't actually care enough to go looking. It's break week, I'm going to gear up to go stir up trouble back home for a few days or something. Enjoy your time off, Fandom. Until next week.
